On September 27th, 2017 DrumFIT had the opportunity to visit Creech Elementary and Bear Creek Elementary of Katy ISD after Hurricane Harvey devastated the area. We wanted to support the schools and surprise the students with some fun DrumFIT classes and replacement equipment in hopes of lightening the mood and putting some smiles on kids faces. Both neighborhoods were severely damaged and both schools had to relocate to temporary buildings. Creech Elementary was moved to a temporary building with no gym and, due to the weather, we were unable to drum with them outside... but they were incredibly grateful for the replacement equipment.
Bear Creek, which had also been moved to a temporary location, had just returned to their building on Monday and were so excited to Drum! It was so great to see the smiles on their faces and help take their minds off the devastation for a short period of time.
It was so great to be able to help in a small way, but these neighborhoods, their schools, and the amazing kids that attend them still need support. You can help relief efforts through the Red Cross HERE!
